About the Company

Our client is a leading expert in the food/retail industry. They have been on Canada’s Top Employers list and are looking to have a hard-working, CPA, CA to join their Internal Audit team.

Responsibilities entail providing internal audit services to the company and divisions. This will involve providing innovative audit assurance and verification services, assuring that proper operational and business controls are in place in each of the businesses, together with value-added analysis/consultative support services intended to help improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Problem analysis and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in all aspects of the Company's operations are important to this role.

About the Opportunity

• Determine the audit scope, identify risks and mitigating controls, design the audit approach and test plan for each audit project assigned. Execute the test plan efficiently with proper documentation via while coordinating work within a team of 1-10
• Conduct opening and closing meetings with management
• Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations for the assigned projects and discuss the reports with management
• Work with the business to develop value-added Management Action Plans to address the identified issues, effectively monitor their status and test their completion by the due date
• Work within professional auditing and accounting standards to ensure that professional standards are maintained in the planning, execution and in the accumulation of audit work
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and co-workers
• Ensure that the assigned individual audit plan is met on time and on budget
• Research areas identified in regional risk assessments to understand, communicate and evaluate any significant internal control, accounting or operational business issues
• Research emerging issues in best practices in risk assessment, auditing and accounting
• Perform any ad-hoc requests by management as necessary

About You

• Demonstrated strong knowledge of internal auditing and control standards and internal consulting skills
• Designated CPA (or CPA candidate completed all examinations)
• 2-3 years of experience in a relevant role
• Team player with excellent ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation). Comfortable presenting to Senior Executives
• Excellent interpersonal and management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge and use of data analytics in an audit environment is an asset
• Experience in retail, wholesale, manufacturing industry an asset
• Flexibility/adaptability working on changing priorities
• Knowledge of IT controls or IT systems as an asset

Salary Range

$80,000/year
