Manager, Global Credit in Investment Operations - 6 Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity

  • Be a strategic and trusted partner to the Global Credit Investment team
  • Quarterback the investment closing process; ensuring all required documentation and approvals are finalized
  • Oversight and approval of trade tickets for Capital Calls and Distributions, including related investment accounting entries
  • Review valuation reports and models for private credit instruments to ensure appropriate valuations are recognized/recorded and liaise with external vendors to satisfy queries/issues
  • Ensure reconciled investment-level financial statements and information to support internal accounting records are accurate
  • Provide oversight and review of month-end/quarter-end accounting close process (e.g. reconciliations, journal entries, reports) and provide support when necessary to resolve issues
  • Review and disseminate routine and ad-hoc requests completed by group members
  • Review and/or prepare year-end financial statement note support and reporting schedules
  • Liaise with clients and other internal/external stakeholders to manage and monitor routine and ad-hoc deliverables and ensure reporting is timely and accurate
  • Responsible for managing internal and external stakeholder relationships; help establish plan for new client setup and transitions
  • Continue to improve existing operations, reporting and accounting functions
  • Lead research and analysis of investment accounting treatments and applies accounting knowledge to potential changes

About You

  • A university degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Relevant professional designations (CPA, CFA) are an asset
  • 8+ years of experience in investment management, with direct experience working in Investment Finance or Investment Operations. Experience in the asset management industry, preferably with exposure to direct loan operations
  • Thorough understanding of accounting standards (IFRS, Pension accounting) and best practices is required; experienced in reviewing and preparing general ledgers
  • Experience in managing accounting and reporting functions with daily and monthly deliverables
  • Superior analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required to identify and recommend potential opportunities and improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and maintain an up to date knowledge of industry returns and risks
  • 1+ years of strong leadership skills and supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and build team engagement
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the capability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and cultivate key partnerships to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as third-party administrators
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a clear and compelling manner and present information to internal stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative to understand, support and implement goals and objectives
  • Experience with system implementation an asset
