Manager, General Accounting - 6-7 Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity
  • Managing, coaching, and mentoring the A/R team, including annual goal setting and performance reviews, training and development and performance management as required
  • Manage the day-to-day volume of work for the A/R staff, while managing the A/R team performance so that close deadlines are met
  • Monthly review of the GL to A/R subledger reconciliation, journal entries, as well as other balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
  • Ensure that finance policies and procedures are understood by the team, and they are followed 
  • Manage A/R Avaya queue to ensure that emails and calls are handled in a timely manner
  • Review and approve refund requests, invoice adjustments etc. on a timely basis
  • Oversee document management retention for A/R, ensuring that the team is following the policies
  • Ensuring A/R team are following the PCI compliance policy and reporting issues to Director, Finance
  • Continually assess and reevaluate accounts receivable policies, procedures and controls, and ensure team is trained to ensure compliance and minimize errors
  • Ensures rapid and consistent collection of receivables, and that amounts are written off/credits applied on a timely basis
  • As a subject matter expert, lead and or participate in projects such as process improvement initiatives, system initiatives, business unit support or other departmental initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy (ex. AMD, ASD, Annual Tax Receipts, XRM etc.)
  • Process improvement within the department and providing ongoing recommendations to leadership

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or in progress)
  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience
  • Proven working experience as Accounting Manager or Accounting Supervisor
  • Ability to manage employees, while multi-tasking large projects
  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software (Great Plains), MS Office Suite
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize work and multiple competing deadlines
  • Experience with software system implementation an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
