Manager, Financial Reporting (Closed)

About the Company

Our client is one of the largest Canadian-owned companies. They are looking to hire a Manager, Financial Reporting to be responsible for the consolidation of the Company’s periodic, quarterly and annual financial results and the preparation of the Management’s Discussion and Analysis, quarterly and annual financial statements, related notes, and all supporting documentation as well as consolidated analytics.

About the Opportunity

• Assist in the preparation and review of the Annual and Quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis, including the supporting working papers
• Assist in the preparation and review of period and quarterly account analysis and periodic adjusting journal entries, and reconciliations
• Assist with research into various accounting issues
• Liaise with various operating divisions, including the George Weston Limited Finance, Treasury, Pension and Tax groups, as required to ensure timely and consistent financial reporting
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the year-end audit and quarterly reviews of the financial statements
• Prepare the budget/forecast for consolidation journal entries
• Provide recommendations on process improvements, automation, and opportunities to enhance controls
• Special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required
• Provide analysis and reporting to senior management
• Provide recommendations on process improvements and opportunities to enhance controls

About You

• CPA, or in progress
• 2-3 years related external reporting work experience either from public accounting firms or from industry
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and required disclosures; strong knowledge of Ontario Securities Commission requirements and required disclosures

Salary Range

$85,000/year
