Manager, Finance (Closed)

The Manager, Finance is responsible for leading a department consisting of approximately 6 associates. The Manager, Finance will also support the VP, Finance in meeting the various objectives of the Finance Department and projects. Planning, organizing, directing and controlling of daily operations are part of the daily task of the Finance Manager.

About the Opportunity

Leadership

• Lead a Client Accounting team of 6 staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of client financial statements
• Build and maintain a culture of service excellence, with a focus on responsiveness and accuracy

Client Accounting

• Build an efficient and scalable team structure that leverages technology
• Be a financial knowledge and thought leader providing training to:
  • new condo managers and directors as appropriate
  • sound financial analysis and advice to client
  • be the face of finance for clients and staff
• Support and drive client budgeting process in partnership with management team
• Attend Client Board Meetings as required
• Lead and support on boarding of new clients to support client retention
• Review monthly client financials and budgets on a rotating basis with priority given to “Watchlist” clients
• Management of “Watchlist” clients in conjunction with the VP, Finance
• Maintain an ongoing awareness of the regulatory environment and issues that could affect our business model
• Maintain strong control environment and be open to process change; evaluating opportunities for continuous improvement

Finance Transformation

• Support the VP, Finance in the timely and effective delivery of improvement initiatives and projects
• Responsible for producing and maintaining accounting policy and procedure manuals, including relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

About You

• Minimum of 5 + years working experience within an Finance/ Accounting environment
• 3 + years of managerial/ supervisory experience
• Suit an Audit or Business Services Manager looking to move into a Finance and Accounting Career

• Experience from a public accounting firm
• Demonstrates strong leadership and team building skills
• Well organized team player with passion for customer satisfaction
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
• Experience in Property Management and/or Yardi Voyager would be considered an asset
• Training experience an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools required
• Accounting designation or working towards CPA

Salary Range

$85,000 - $90,000/year
