Our client is sourcing for a Manager, Corporate Risk & Compliance for 20 month contract.

About the Opportunity

Internal Audit & Compliance

  • Develop and manage the execution of the annual risk-based audit plan including divisional internal audit plans
  • Responsibility for conducting internal audits throughout the organization and preparation of the related audit findings reports
  • Participate in establishing the audit scope and objectives in areas under audit consideration
  • Manage and coach direct reports on internal audit projects and provide leadership over audit activities
  • Critically assess the validity of potential observations identified throughout the internal audit process
  • Collaborate with process owners to develop appropriate remediation action plans to address deficiencies
  • Follow-up to ensure internal audit findings are actioned and remediated by business-unit leaders
  • Together with the divisional Presidents and V.P. Finances, hold the divisional compliance managers (or equivalent) accountable for their responsibilities
  • Monitoring ongoing trends, risk factors, legislative changes to assess impact on the company’s current programs
  • Administrator for the whistleblower program including the communication, monitoring and reporting of incidents
  • Assist the VP with preparation of the quarterly reports to the Audit Committee as well as other reporting to Management as required
  • Coordination of senior management and audit committee communications and coordination and education of divisional compliance managers (or equivalent)
  • Manage overall department budget
  • Continuous evaluation of tools and training available to the organization

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Work closely with senior management and divisional unit leaders to facilitate the identification, assessment and management of critical risks as the organization works in achieving its strategic objectives
  • Assist with the ongoing review of the risk registers and the ongoing assessment of new risks
  • Maintain the consolidated corporate risk register
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly risk reports for delivery to the Audit Committee
  • Assist with the annual quantification of the organization's risk appetite
  • Develop trending charts, roadmaps for ongoing reports, facilitate data analytics and gather and maintain support for all reports being presented to management and the Audit Committee

Other Compliance Activities

  • Working with the company’s co-source service provider, manage the execution and success of the company’s compliance program with National Instrument 52-109 culminating with the quarterly and annual external financial statement certification by the CEO and CFO
  • Maintain compliance obligations of the company’s office processes and controls including Entity Wide and Disclosure Controls
  • Development of a standardized internal control testing framework for the divisions and corporate
  • Meet with business-units to understand changes to process, risks and control environment
  • Establish and maintain a coordinated and deliberate compliance program at the corporate and divisional levels and ultimately, a strong culture of control
  • Develop and/or improve policies and procedures related to compliance and controls
  • Provide expertise in compliance program management, process level controls and segregation of duties to support projects and other corporate initiatives

About You

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CDN or US)
  • Minimum 5+ year’s prior business experience (Internal audit experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of the IIA standards and best practices, COSO 2013 and CSA 52-109 regulatory requirements for financial disclosures and internal controls
  • Well-developed ability to interact with a wide range of management levels throughout the enterprise coupled with a strong ability to influence others, raise and resolve business issues
  • Experience in managing and supervising direct reports preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • A team player with a proven ability to build relationships within and outside of an organization
  • Experience working in a co-sourcing service delivery model
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge in business and financial process controls documentation and flow-charting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects as required
  • Experience in managing organization-wide internal audits programs, from planning to remediation monitoring, from department budgeting to team building
  • Experience with developing and executing enterprise risk management frameworks and initiatives

Pay Rate

$55/hour
