About the Company  
Our client is a global health and healthcare leader, and they are looking to hire a Manager, Corporate Application Services.

About the Opportunity
  • VP Technology Operations & Security took over this application team about 3 months ago and this team is the application back-end team where they support multiple applications
  • 98% of the client's applications are on cloud, they have Azure – data centre, O365, ServiceNow (cloud), Workday (HR / Finance), medical record system (QHR/EMR - Accuro), legacy application – a finance application and uses Mulesoft for integration purposes
  • They have multiple other teams that support applications like:
    • Salesforce (Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, Health cloud) where they build custom applications
    • Custom reporting team – based on Power BI, Azure Synapse, SQL, Azure Data centre, Power Platform
    • Servicedesk is a different team which focuses on ServiceNow and ITSM processes
    • Workday, legacy applications and Accuro – EMR
  • This person will be managing the Workday / legacy and Accuro team where the focus will be supporting, managing, maintaining Workday (Finance module - revenue recognition, taxation, payroll integration, HR module – LMS, employee/user accounts, benefits, etc.), also legacy systems – financial applications which uses Mulesoft for integration, some support to ServiceNow team for around 750 IT users
  • Some of the key areas this person will be focusing daily are:
    • Leadership – managing people (Dev and BA team of 6 individuals, all have more than 15 – 20 years of experience in IT ), managing projects expectations, road map, and conversations with other cross-functional managers in the business up to VP and SVP level
    • Manage Vendors who support our enterprise applications – Workday (European Vendor), EMR (Canadian certified application by the Ministry of Health vendor located in Toronto), Mulesoft (offshore - India), Azure SQL databases (offshore – India), Lab operations (Canadian Vendor - QHR), contractors (Canadian), and manage expenses and budget
    • Communication - The leader needs a strong personality and skill to navigate conversations with IT project managers, Directors and business unit’s directors to discuss transformation and change; presentation - should feel comfortable standing in front of VPs, CIO or broader management team
    • Medcan stack of enterprise applications, Salesforce, Workday, Enterprise API management tools ( Azure API or Mulesoft ),  Atlassian, GitHub,  EMR (Accuro from QHR ), SQL managed instance on Azure, SLDC, codeless, serverless applications, BI, AI and security around applications (all or some are good to have)
  • Upcoming projects:
    • Build a road map to transform existing .net applications to the latest and greatest on Microsoft Azure (Consolidated and use serverless concept, Code as a service, infrastructure as code technologies
    • Build a technology roadmap to transform backend applications and simplify integration
    • Migrate API’s from Mulesoft to Microsoft Azure API manage
    • Help the Analytics team implement an enterprise business analytics platform on Azure – Data Lake – power BI – Azure Synopsis (support role)
    • Implement Learning module in Workday and Revenue recognition
    • Integrate with provincial systems and implement Edrug, Eprescripe, Econsult, Eforms, and Ereferrals in EMR (electronic Medical records systems)
    • Secure the SDLC cycle with Code scans at rest and online, comply with PCI and Canada Cyber secure audits (Medcan is certified in both areas
    • Replace the Lab system with a new modern Cloud provider
    • Replace the Radiology systems with a new Cloud provider

About You
  • Min 10 years of overall IT experience with last 5 years of experience leading teams
  • 5 years in managing corporate application (recent)
  • Strong vendor management experience – for application implementations / upgrade projects
  • Strong people management and team leadership experience
  • Great communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to commute 2 days per week (Tue / Thur – fixed days) to Downtown Toronto office

Bonus Items:
  • Workday (Finance / HRIS modules)
  • EMR / EHR (Accuro or similar)
  • Experience in Healthcare industry
  • Participate in vendor selection - RFPs/etc
  • Management and understanding of DevOps (currently outsourced)
