Linux Administrator (Closed)

About the Company

Our client is currently looking for a Linux and Web based Systems Administrator on a three-month engagement. You will work from the clients Downtown Toronto office with light travel north of the GTA. You will join a dynamic team where you will support the entire technology infrastructure through a busy project season.

About the Opportunity

• Configure/tune Windows OS and Hyper-V for scalability and performance as required by Web Application
• Responsible for the non-production and production deployment processes 
• Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to identify and patch cyber security vulnerabilities
• Coordinate web platform infrastructure changes following standardized change control process
• You will be involved in all stages of the web application support, from defining the infrastructure platform design to the implementation/deployment of applications and ongoing incident management
• Responsible for setting up, configuring, supporting and managing the web platform (Hybris - Tomcat) environment to ensure system reliability
• Identify performance related issues and work with various teams to resolve
• Apply maintenance fixes, HP firmware updates and OS patches and manage incidents and its fixes as well as perform on-call support of production application and perform other duties as assigned

About You

• Minimum 5 years of experience as Linux Administrator lead in a web application development environment 
• Strong analytical, problem solving capabilities, organizational and project management skills.
• Excellence in communication, written and verbal, to upper management and front-line team alike
• Exposure to Linux container technologies and tools like Docker, Podman would be an added advantage
• Windows server configuration and management
• Virtualization technology like Hyper-V, VMware, KVM
• Linux server configuration and management
• Active directory user management and configuration
• Experience managing JIRA, Confluence and BitBucket, managing HP blades and storage volumes, deploying Java based web applications, managing firewall and configuring load balancer and providing fixes to various infrastructure related security issues
