About the Company

Reporting to the President and Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller is primarily responsible for leading and preparing all external financial reporting for the public company (the “Company”) as well as working to develop and improve management and board of directors reporting.

About the Opportunity

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare all external financial reporting documents while providing technical research, when needed, to support the choice of accounting policy and financial reporting approach
  • Ensure the accurate and timely consolidation of the Company’s financial results including quarterly management and board performance reports, financial statements and notes and MD&A
  • Manages the quarter-end and year-end financial reporting close process and review month end reconciliations within established timelines
  • Preparing and analyzing balance sheet and income statement accounts, continuity schedules, variance analysis on an ad-hoc basis as required by senior management
  • Provide support for Investor Relations communications as required
  • Liaise and oversee financial reporting of the Chilean mining subsidiary, providing guidance and strengthening, where needed, the reporting and internal controls to the standards of the Company

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Responsible for assisting with the annual budgeting process within established timelines
  • Works closely with the executive team to provide data, trending and analysis including investigating overages to support forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Maintains corporate budgeting model

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Leads the external audit process and tax compliance by preparing financial statements and working papers
  • Prepare the necessary documentation and manage the external advisor’s testing related to the NI52-109 program including completing and documenting process walk-throughs, testing controls, and assisting in remediation efforts
  • Ensuring compliance, consistency and transparency across all accounting functions
  • Identify and implement financial reporting and compliance requirements
  • Assisting senior management with ad hoc and special projects as needed
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with regulatory compliance and supports the Company’s process, policies and procedures

Ad Hoc Projects

  • Working with management to analyze, assess and create meaningful output to assist in mergers and acquisitions opportunities
  • Preparing and analyzing various cash flow scenarios to support strategic business decisions
  • Supporting and participating with management in investor presentations, board presentations and other public communication platforms

About You

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business
  • Professional Accounting Designation required
  • You have 5+ years of experience in financial reporting with publicly traded companies in the mining industry
  • Previous experience in performing consolidations
  • Strong understanding of quarterly and annual public company filing requirements including overseeing external service providers
  • In depth accounting and finance knowledge relating to mining company operations
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple deadlines and prioritize crucial deliverables
  • Your communication and presentation skills are well developed – Spanish as a second language is a distinguishable asset and will be valued accordingly;
  • Strong people skills. A team player. A proven ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization yet work at a consistently high level independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills complement your focused attention to detail
  • Excellent MS Office Skills (eg Excel, Powerpoint)

Salary Range

$55/hour
