About the Opportunity

Hiring, Training, & Onboarding:

  • Full cycle recruitment, including the development of job descriptions, posting, screening interviews, reference checks, and onboarding for the Recruiting services team as well as talent acquisition for all departments
  • Manage and report on recruitment KPIs
  • Conduct intake meetings with managers to identify hiring and talent needs
  • Manage the onboarding process by emailing new hires with details about the company, including parking information, work schedules, and dress codes
  • Welcome new hires with prepared onboarding kits and an office tour
  • Develop and implement targeted onboarding programs by employee classification
  • Gather and file all paperwork related to new hires, including contracts and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Develop and drive the engagement activities and processes for facility employees

Employee Relations:

  • Provide HR advice to management in the day-to-day operations of the plant
  • Act as a first point of contact and resource for managers and employees to assist with a variety of human resources related matters, ensuring the appropriate follow-up and responsiveness
  • Provide guidance and advice to managers on employee relations issues including attendance management, conflict resolution and performance management
  • Review and implement HR policies; uphold policies with employees and management
  • Analyze complaints and conduct investigations in accordance with company policy and applicable employment legislation
  • Interpret ensure compliance with Employment Standards, Human Rights, and other applicable workplace legislation
  • Build effective relationships with internal client groups to understand their business goals in order to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational goals and strategies
  • Proactively support and champion change management initiatives to ensure the successful delivery of internal HR programs and initiatives

Payroll & HR Recordkeeping:

  • Administering payroll and ensuring accurate reporting of absences
  • Draft all employment change letters and ensure files are kept up-to-date
  • Responsible for inputting data into the HR database, including status changes, disability/leaves, terminations, IT access, etc
  • Assist facility management with annual compensation planning process as well as objective setting and year-end review process

Health & Safety:

  • Coordinate Health & Safety program, and champion a safety culture
  • Manage at work injuries, WSIB reporting process, and claims
  • Coordinate workplace accommodations and written accommodation plans

Covid-19 Regulations:

  • Monitor Regional, Provincial and Federal pandemic workplace related bylaws, regulations and Workplace recommendations
  • Implement and enforce new policies as needed
  • Ensure the company and staff complies with Health & Safety inspector requirements

About You

  • 3+ years of progressive and relevant Human Resources Generalist experience, ideally within midsize companies.
  • Longevity in the workforce, no jumpy profiles (less than a year is a RF)
  • Experience in policy writing and/or employee engagement (able to explain and provide examples of these tasks)
  • Actual experience working with managers and identifying solutions
  • Office based, start up environment and fast paced (not strict 9-5pm, you get the job done and then you leave- needs to be flexible and work overtime)
  • At least one of two roles is to have exp. in manufacturing
  • Organization is growing very quickly on such a large scale. HR Generalists will have to write the policies and create orientation from the ground up
  • Experience they will get in 1 year in this industry would take 5 years elsewhere
  • Bachelor degree or college diploma, preferably in Human Resources or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of progressive and relevant Human Resources Generalist experience, ideally within midsize companies
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Cannabis industry experience is an asset
  • Applicants who frequently attend HR related conferences for continuous learning are preferred
  • CHRP designation in good standing is an asset but not required
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees at various levels within the organization
  • Strong consulting and influencing skills to provide support to client group
  • Possesses a solid knowledge and understanding of employment legislation including; Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach, influence, facilitate, resolve conflict and build and manage relationships
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft programs is required
  • Experience with HRIS, ATS, or other HR related systems is considered an asset
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with absolute discretion and tact

Salary

$60.000 - $65,000/year
