Our client is looking for a Treasurer for an 8 month contract.

About the Opportunity

  • Invest in working capital in accordance with internal policy
  • Negotiate and implement banking arrangements with the organization’s bankers
  • Accounting for, and reporting on, the investments in the Investment Pool managed by external funds managers on behalf of the organization and the Foundation
  • Receive and liquidate non-cash gifts and bequests
  • The successful candidate will be in charge of management of debt and supervision of staff
  • Maximize positive cash flows through effective cash management
  • Maximize investment income through the effective investment of working capital
  • Develop and implement the working capital management policy consistent with appropriate risk levels
  • Maintain positive relationships with the organization’s bankers and resolve issues promptly and effectively
  • Minimize bank fees through the use of cost-effective and innovative methods of conducting banking transactions
  • Work with the respective governing bodies (Investment Committees and Finance Committee) to ensure investment management policy for the restricted Funds is current, compliant with legislation and appropriate for the objectives of the funds
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of the investments held in the Investment Pool ($450 million)
  • Oversee the work of the investment managers, custodians, trustees, and consultants to ensure the organization receives the maximum benefit from these relationships at the least cost
  • Prepare timely and meaningful reports to management on financial resources
  • Administrate bequests, receipt and liquidation of non-cash gifts, and supervision of the trust and endowment administrative functions in a manner which provides support to the Foundation, senior management and trust fund administrators.
  • Management of the debt to minimize interest and administrative cost and ensure adherence to debt covenants
  • Effectively develop, train and monitor Treasury Operations staff to ensure the provision of quality service to all areas of the organization
  • Maintain knowledge and communication of organization policies related to Treasury Operations
  • Conduct regular evaluations of policies with recommendations for new and enhanced policies as required
  • Develop and implement procedures to monitor compliance to treasury related policies
  • Participate in internal and external committees and develop/maintain industry contacts Membership in appropriate external associations may be required

About You

  • CFA preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior position in treasury management, banking, financial services, funds management, or accounting in a related industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the treasury management function, including: cash flow forecasting, modeling and management, investment products including risk management through the use of hedging strategies, trust and investment legislation, and financial accounting
  • The successful candidate should possess superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with 3rd party portfolio managers
