About the Opportunity

  • Prepare, maintain, update, manipulate and analyze the digital mapping and associated databases related to the organizations GIS environment
  • Perform regular quality assurance and quality control tasks to ensure the integrity of the GIS data
  • Take ownership of the Oracle Database/GIS environment while looking at ways to enhance reporting and modernization
  • Focus on data manipulation, data collection and system/database integrity
  • Work with department leads/users to provide spatial data and analysis functions
  • Provide content administration, data dissemination, documentation, spatial analysis, map productions, user training and support to the business users and stakeholders
  • Analyze data requirements, design logical and physical data models within the Oracle environment
  • Manage the GIS tickets and respond to application issues, troubleshoot problems and work with vendors when needed to for faster time to resolution
  • Monitor and assess problem situations to identify root cause, gather and process relevant information, generate solutions and resolutions
  • Maintain a knowledge base of all GIS issues and document resolutions
  • Programming, coding, and implementation of third-party applications will be required in this role

About You

  • Degree or Diploma in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience with developing GIS databases
  • At least 3 years of experience maintaining GIS data with Hexagon software is required
  • Experience within the utilities sector is highly desired
  • Advanced knowledge of GIS tools and methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and Oracle database with Oracle skills taking precedence
  • Advanced knowledge of iOS and Android operating systems is a strong nice to have
  • Experience with AutoCAD software or knowledge of is required
  • Experience with presentation and graphic design tools to produce professional quality mapping output products
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; including experience creating analytical based reports
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
