About the Opportunity

  • Prepare and input journal entries on a daily basis for operating and development properties as well as legal entities managed by Brookfield
  • Maintaining all journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation efficiently organized for quick and easy retrieval
  • Prepare subledger to general ledger reconciliations for select balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensure accuracy and completeness of balances and journal entry posting
  • Prepare lead sheet for financial statement line items, investigating key variances and documenting reasons for those variances from comparative periods and budget
  • Perform and maintain bank reconciliations with supporting documentation for all the properties and legal entities
  • Maintain balance sheet continuities including amortization of prepaids, deferred income, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts as required
  • Investigate variances in balances vs prior periods and document reasons for such variances
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly HST returns and laisse Brookfield Tax department
  • Review and tie out monthly Debt Reconciliation
  • Support monthly & quarterly accrual analysis
  • Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and reporting packs
  • Support billing and reconciliation of receivables property management fee, development management fee, single tenant assets
  • Support reconciliation of inter-company charge backs and intercompany receivables and payables balances
  • Support ad-hoc analysis, ERP management and reporting needs of inhouse accounting team and treasury function

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience working in full-cycle accounting function; experience in real estate is considered an asset
  • Experience in corporate treasury will be considered an asset
  • Adaptability with learning new applications; experience in accounting / consolidation systems i.e. Microsoft Dynamics, Yardi, JD Edwards, Hyperion, OneStream, etc
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure accuracy of deliverables
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver results independently, while working together with a team
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
