General Accountant (Closed)

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the General Accountant will be responsible for key components of the day-to-day accounting, monthly reporting, and tax/regulatory compliance processes for our portfolio of concepts in Canada and the US. As a part of our dynamic Finance team, you will be a key point of contact for our restaurant operations team

About the Opportunity

• Actively support and participate in the monthly financial close cycle 
• Prepare journal entries including revenue, cash/banking, intercompany, accruals, fixed assets, intercompany and other accounts
• Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
• Support the year end audit process and deliverables
• Daily and monthly revenue and labour expense reporting
• Assist with variance analysis and preparation of financial statements
• Analyze accounting data to identify trends and issues to support key business insights and decisions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, investigate, and resolve transaction discrepancies
• Proactively identify efficiencies in existing processes and play an active role in process improvement projects
• Review and document existing accounting processes and procedures; implement best practices and support the ongoing development of SOPs
• Support special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
• Pursuing CPA designation an asset
• 2+ years of accounting experience; hospitality industry experience an asset
• Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
• Self-starter who takes initiative and is solution oriented
• Ability to work under pressure and meet various deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Passionate about creating efficiencies and automating workflows
• Tech savvy and ability to pick up new platforms and software quickly; Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization

Salary

$55,000 - $60,000/year
