About the Opportunity
- Examine, verify, reconcile, and process financial information submitted by agency staff
- Provide feedback and training concerning bookkeeping and financial reporting
- Monitor compliance to company policy, government regulations and agency procedures
- Reports variances to agency finance manager with suggestions for resolution
- Assists with month-end, quarter-end and year-end account closing activities and reconciliations
- Maintain detailed listings of the contents of all balance sheet accounts
- Review expense and income accounts for accuracy
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Investigate discrepancies
- Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accruals and variances
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of accounting records
- Assist with the preparation of reports provided to management
- Adhere to standard accounting principles
- Other duties as assigned
About You
- Strong aptitude for the use and maintenance of financial accounting software
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to staff with varying geographical locations, cultural paradigms and educational perspectives
- Aptitude for MS Office application use and development - experience with MS products and macro programming preferred
- Familiarity with databases and queries
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
