General Accountant

About the Opportunity

• Support Senior Accountants for full accounting cycle
• Enter accounting transactions for payables, receivables, bank transactions, journal entries, lot sales and letters of credit
• Prepare bank deposits and monthly payments, and process remote cheque deposits
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Prepare and file government remittances
• Prepare monthly bank reporting packages
• Ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
• Respond to ad hoc inquiries as required
• Ensure and enforce compliance to all company and legislated Safety policies and procedures
• Any additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time

About You

• Completion of College, University or other business administration courses
• 1 -3 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of basic accounting
• Relevant industry experience is preferred
• Proficient with financial systems, processes and technology
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Strong organizational & planning skills
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Strong mathematical ability
• Team player
• Can maintain confidentiality
• Reliable and takes initiative
• Stress tolerance due to fluctuations in workload – sometimes requiring overtime hours

Salary

$50,000 - $55,000/year
