About the Opportunity

• Accounting
  • Participate in month-end close process with internal business owners, parent and affiliate companies to ensure monthly deliverables submitted by deadlines and questions addressed
  • Produce solo and consolidated Canadian Financial Statement
  • Develop an understanding of business activities to determine reasonability and provide explanations for variances to plan
  • Review and analyze various line items on the financial statements and/or operational results
  • Receive, review and process monthly accruals and other journal entries from business owners and distribute operating expense reports to business owners and coordinate responses
  • Maintain records in lease accounting system, and analyze lease related balances per IFRS16
  • Prepare and submit financial data to Statistics Canada and other organizations
  • Coordinate account reconciliation process as well as prepare reconciliations for various GL accounts
  • Stay current on new and proposed accounting standards and assess impact to the company
  • Develop IFRS/US GAAP position papers, policy implementation and compliance for new accounting standards and/or new business activities
  • Cross-functional work with other groups and business operation owners to identify potential accounting issues and recommend solutions
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors
  • Operate within a SOX environment and maintain operational controls and documentation
  • Point of contact for inquiries regarding period end close, financial statements and accounting standards
  • Maintain IFRS and US GAAP ledgers; reconcile the two ledgers and prepare US GAAP financial reporting to US affiliate company
  • Participate in accounting and system projects as assigned and undertake other tasks as needs arise
• SOX
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the various business processes and units under review
  • Review Global and Regional SOX Instructions annually
  • Engage in annual planning and regular status meetings with key stakeholders and other Genpos
  • Communicate activities and deliverables to CH Business Owners to support testing
  • Coordinate internal testing team, external auditors, and Business Owners to execute test plan
  • Ensure deliverables are completed in a timely and accurate fashion
• Relationship Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all members of the team.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships within the company as well as all other internal and external stakeholders.

About You

• University-level education, accounting, or business degree preferred

• CPA designation completed or in final stages

• 1-3 Years of Financial Reporting and Accounting Standards related experience preferred (Audit or Consulting related experience would be an asset)

• Experience with an ERP system required (SAP experience would be an asset)

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external affiliates

• Attention to detail is essential with focus on high quality of deliverables

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; passion for research

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently under pressure within strict deadlines

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)

• Experience in multinational organizations/auto industry/public accounting would be an asset

• In depth knowledge of accounting standards, both US GAAP and IFRS

Salary Range
$75,000 - $80,000/year
