Our client is non-profit organization. They are currently looking for a Financial Controller. This position works collaboratively with the other members of the finance office on matters related to budgeting, financial reporting, auditing, congruency with sub-ledgers, and account balancing.

About the Opportunity
- Maintains the general ledgers and financial records in a manner suitable for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Works collaboratively with program managers and supervisors to ensure that the general ledger is kept up-to-date
- Ensures that balance sheet accounts are balanced on a regular basis and that operating statement accounts are periodically reviewed for reasonability in relation to internal budgets.
- Issues financial reports to program directors and managers on a monthly basis.
- Assists the CFO with the preparation of financial reporting to funders and donors.
- Ensures that sub-ledgers are congruent with general ledger balances, where applicable.
- Oversees monthly and year-end accruals as required.
- Manages the back end of the payroll process by preparing payroll journal entries, and preparing group insurance journal entries.
- Prepare, oversee with the preparation of draft year-end financial statements and working papers for the auditors.
- Manages the relationship with the auditors’ field staff and serves as the auditors’ first point of contact on transactional matters.
- Acts as a cheque signing officer and as an internet banking payments officer.
- Provides training and orientation sessions for new managers to help them interpret financial reports and use Reena’s accounts payable system.
- Assists the CFO with the design and implementation of financial management policies, procedures, and systems.
- This position also provides oversight to the finance staff in absence of the Accounting Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information related to the organization, units, programs, staff, and clients, which the duties of the position provide access to.
- Engages/attends in training seminars, conferences, and trade shows to upgrade skills as directed by Reena to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Ensures that anti-racism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved.
- Participates in regular supervisory sessions, staff and unit meetings.
- Carries out additional duties as identified from time to time by the CFO.
About You
- CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA
- 3 years of experience in financial accounting including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset.
- Excellent spreadsheet and word processing skills
Salary Range
$80,000 to $90,000/year
