Financial Analyst - 4+ Month Contract (Closed)

About the Opportunity 

  • Assist in developing and managing the preparation of financial information that assists management in evaluating performance, planning, trend analysis and future initiatives 
  • In collaboration with the Finance team management and the budgeting and forecasting analyst, review the development, compilation, ongoing monitoring, and reporting of budgets and quarterly forecasts across the client’s multiple departments to ensure the correctness and completeness of budgets and requests
  • Review the templates and working papers and monitor the reported results vs. projections and variation analysis for all Programs and Department budgets/funding requests and any allocations thereof
  • In collaboration with members of the Finance Team, perform routine assessments of existing process flow and develop strategies to streamline the financial reporting process, standardize financial reports and improve efficiency and controls 
  • Assist in research and preparation of variance analysis of Actuals against Budget per guidelines and provide explanations through liaison with various departments
  • Collaborate with the Financial Analyst to review and analyze the cash flow’s accuracy and completeness to optimize cash flow and utilization
  • Monitors and analyzes daily bank activity reports to assist in tracking all electronic transactions and correcting bank exceptions
  • Review, Input, and accurately maintain the Vendor Banking Information to facilitate Electronic Funds transfer
  • Assist in the review, preparation, calculation and filing of Sales Tax (e.g. GST/HST/PST/QST) returns in compliance with CRA and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist in preparing and filing statutory and/or regulatory reports (e.g. Corporation and Tax returns)
  • Assist the Finance team in extracting various reports from Dynamics GP
  • Create ad hoc reports and conduct ad hoc analysis and present findings to Management
  • Review, analyze, prepare and post the recurring and ad hoc journal vouchers periodically
  • Prepare account analysis and reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Assist in successful completion of internal and external audits, including completion of audit working papers
  • Ensure confidentiality in maintaining sensitive data related to the Social Insurance Numbers for payees to assist in preparing and reconciling year-end T4A statements for the client’s programs
  • Compile data for internal departmental and organizational budget reporting
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned
  • Ensure effective and professional communications with all internal and/or external contacts
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization in order to build trust and confidence in the services provided
  • Work in accordance with all the client’s policies, procedures and processes with all applicable legislation 
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety requirements

  • Participate in the development and/or execution of special projects as required
  • Participate on internal staff committees or working groups as required

About You

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance preferred 
  • 3 years relevant experience in financial analysis and reporting required 
  • Experience with planning/reporting/forecasting processes and tools required 
  • ERP exposure (Dynamics GP and Management Reporter) preferred 
  • Professional accounting or financial designation (such as CPA. CFA) preferred 
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and opinions clearly and effectively in English. 
  • French is an asset 
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles 
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Word user

  • Intermediate Microsoft Outlook

Pay Rate 
Up to $40/hour
