About the Opportunity
  • Prepare and process corporate journal entries, including entries related to occupancy, such as lease, utilities and property tax entries
  • Review utilities expenses thoroughly for 280+ stores each period to identify and investigate PoP / vendor wise anomalies, ensuring run rates are up to date and missing invoices are accrued for
  • Maintain a schedule for CAM review from Landlords for all stores to support accrual entries
  • Manage timely lease reporting via Lucernex (a lease reporting software) in line with requirements of accounting standards, for existing leases, acquired leases and modified/extended leases
  • Time reporting and updating of sub-leases and non-property leases for renewals and modifications
  • Prepare, file and record sales tax returns monthly
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations pertaining to aforementioned FS line items
  • Assist with income tax journal entries, provisions and compliance
  • Period, quarter and year end close analytics, including variance analysis
  • Assisting with several areas of the period and year end close process, including with the preparation of financial statements, preparation for various schedules for audit and tax provisions/ tax return preparation purposes etc.
  • Assisting with the overall integrity of the financial data, processes and business controls for the organization
  • Continuously helping to improve the financial reporting processes
  • Ensure confidentiality of all financial and proprietary information
  • Analyze the financial results, including highlighting accounting issues and providing explanations for any variances to budget
  • Monitor and provide recommendations on all key financial numbers
  • Take charge of other periodic compliance requirements like timely completion of financial surveys
  • Working on other ad-hoc projects as the Company continues to build and improve on existing processes.

About You
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, Power Point and Excel skills, including Pivot tables, lookups, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on accounting and/or finance
  • Ability to work in dynamic, complex, fast paced environment with the team
  • Superior problem-solving skills and managing changing priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Working towards or possess a professional qualification like CPA
  • Knowledge/experience of working in an IFRS reporting environment and interest to develop knowledge on standards further

Salary Range
$55,000/year
