About the Opportunity

  • Utilize both qualitative and quantitative analysis to provide business advisory and strategic insights specific into the insurance portfolio
  • Responsible for the annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes including participation in the preparation of the annual consolidated budgets through information gathering, preparation and maintenance of detailed financial models
  • Prepare monthly variance reporting and deep-dive reviews to improve the accuracy of our forecasting and provide financial insights to the Management and CFO
  • Build effective relationships with key Business Partners (such as Claims, Underwriting, Actuarial Services and Corporate Services) and identify, prioritize and execute on key process improvement opportunities
  • Engage Business Partners in monthly conversations to discuss insights, trends, risks and opportunities and adequately reflect rolling monthly projections of key performance indicators in month-end presentation
  • Utilize financial analysis, bottom-up modelling and external insights to identify areas to improve, clearly present business performance, challenge viability of plans / forecasts and present insights to enable timely intervention
  • Provide support, leadership and mentoring to a staff of 2/3 senior FAs to achieve a high level of performance
  • Active involvement in projects (such as IFRS 17, Capital Allocation, Benchmarking), including development and implementation, with cross-functional Finance teams

About You

  • CPA
  • 3 to 5 years working in the Insurance industry with hands-on experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and ability to solve complex problems
  • 2 to 3 years people management experience is a strong asset
  • Excellent understanding of financial accounting practices related to Insurance industry and an ability to analyze and understand the implications of business activities on the financial statements
  • Strong analytical skillset, including the utilization of Power BI and Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of SAP BPC and Power BI would be considered a strong asset.

Salary Range

$90,000 - $95,000/year
