Our client is in the financial services industry. They are looking for a Director of Tax who will be responsible for leading the firm’s tax reporting and analysis while guiding the tax strategy for the firm

About the Opportunity 

• Leading and overseeing all tax requirements, including corporate tax planning and investment tax requirements across business units 
• Overseeing execution of the firm’s tax strategy to optimize tax efficiency for the firm and to best position our funds to deliver optimal after-tax returns to our investors 
• Expert resource on all aspects of Canadian and US tax financial reporting 
• Liaison with tax advisors to oversee tax engagements, filings and compliance with tax authorities in the U.S. and Canada 
• Working with tax advisors and the investments team to support tax due diligence on potential transactions 
• Overseeing all tax structuring on funds and investments to ensure tax is compliant with tax authorities, and various fund documents 
• Expert resource for tax implications of trades within different fund structures (eg: trades between Canadian and non-Canadian resident/registrant) 
• Working with tax advisors to manage all tax due diligence questions from prospective Institution investors 
• Setting new processes to standardize tax reporting, returns, compliance, and payments in effort to automate and create efficiencies 
• Keep up-to-date with proposed new tax legislation impacting the firm, and its investments 

About You 

• CPA 
• Min 7+ years of experience, 
• Expert with US Tax 
• Public accounting experience preferred; 
• Extensive understanding and experience of relevant Canadian and US Tax 

Salary Range 

$180,000 - $200,000/year
