About the Company

Our client provides a comprehensive solution for financing and managing licensed cannabis cultivators, processors and dispensaries. They are looking for a Director of Finance who will provide oversight over all of the company’s external reporting, technical accounting, SOX implementation, and accounting policy.

About the Opportunity

• Oversee the preparation of the company's public reviewed/audited financial reporting filings, including annual, quarterly, SEC filings, SEDAR filings and statutory reports. Must conduct detailed review of all filings to ensure compliance while continuously improving current disclosures
• Act as the primary technical accounting resource for the company. This includes providing advice on the accounting implications of any new and existing business initiatives and the impact of any new GAAP rules or SEC mandates. Prepare memorandums on complex accounting and reporting topics
• Oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of technical accounting policies, memos, and consultations
• Facilitate and document results of Purchase Price Accounting (“PPAs”) and other valuations with consulted 3rd parties
• Implement new accounting policies in accordance with GAAP
• Lead design and implementation of internal controls as part of the Company’s SOX compliance efforts, as well as establish processes, policies and procedures. Work with external auditors to ensure the company's control framework is compliant as required by SOX and NI 52-109
• Act as the "go-to" person for internal controls within the organization and provide reliable and insightful resources for implementing controls within a business process in an efficient and effective manner
• Identify and assess control weaknesses. Monitor remediation plans by the process owners
• Support project management of and assist in the financial due diligence process, including review of financial documents and preparation and/or review of financial analysis for potential acquisitions, as needed
• Take a leadership role in the above functions, providing guidance and mentoring to the financial reporting team
• Lead and participate in special projects as necessary

About You

• CPA
• 10+ years accounting experience (combination of public company reporting, public accounting, or technical accounting)
• 5+ years management experience preferred
• Expert level US GAAP knowledge and experience and SEC reporting requirements

Salary Range

$160,000 - $180,000/year
