About the Company
Our client is Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider. They are looking for a Director, Investor Relations who will be responsible for supporting all investor relations functions for the company and will maintain a cohesive and coordinated communication program with the investment community, on a proactive basis.

About the Opportunity
  • Develop new and maintain established relationships with investors, equity research analysts, and buy /sell-side community.
  • Cultivate & build investor understanding & confidence in the company’s vision & strategy for delivering shareholder value (phone, email, video, social media & in-person engagement).
  • Conceptualize, develop & lead the execution of the company’s overall IR strategy, including objectives, & tactical plan.
  • Lead strategic communications development directed to the investment community (retail & institutional investors), related to corporate initiatives, regulatory milestones, financial results & other as needed disclosures.
  • Monitor trading in the company’s shares & analyze significant changes or trends & provides insights & financial markets intelligence to the leadership team.
  • Proficiently manage interactions & communications with existing & potential shareholders and analysts; anticipate investor & analyst needs & interests & be responsive in providing information in compliance with company policies & securities regulations.
  • Conduct investor targeting to identify potential new investors then engage with & cultivate relationships; maintain IR CRM & produce analytics.
  • Review analyst & shareholder reports; investor & market sentiment; competitive intelligence & industry developments & provide insights to the leadership team and the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee the organization and planning, and attend company road shows, presentations, speaking engagements, conferences & industry panels, as needed.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of all reporting documents Company prepares, such as the Annual Report, Quarterly Reports, Sustainability Report, Management Information Circular other shareholder communications and press releases.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve IR effectiveness & strive for continuous improvement of IR messaging, materials & website.
  • Lead or manage press releases, corporate presentations; investor meetings, road shows or conferences; Q&A sessions; annual or quarterly reporting; & conference call script processes & content development.
  • Provide senior management and Board of Directors with accurate feedback related to discussions with the investment community and its reaction to Company’s business strategies, operating results, and other corporate developments. Also provide advice to senior management regarding current events within the market that may affect the company’s stock valuation.
  • Gather financial and non-financial data from internal sources for effective disclosure.
  • Ensure that the extended IR team (internal & external parties) are aware & compliant with securities regulations, including appropriate meeting protocols & concerning selective disclosure.
  • Some travel might be required.
  • Ad hoc analysis & reporting; other duties as required

About You
  • MBA, CPA, CFA
  • 7 to 10+ years working in Investor Relations for a company within the Utilities sector and/or Investment Banking / Investment Research experience with strong understanding of the market, analysts, and IR requirements.
  • Knowledge of Canadian public company requirements & disclosures required.
  • A strong understanding of macroeconomics, capital markets trends, competitive intelligence, industry dynamics, & customer trends.
  • Strong financial & investment analysis skills with a thorough understanding of financial modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, Outlook, IR databases & social media platforms.

Salary Range
Depending on experience
