Director, Infrastructure and IT Operations (Closed)

About the Company   

Our client is a large Canada-wide organization with 100+ locations, they are looking to hire a Director, Infrastructure and IT Operations. 

About the Opportunity 

• This person will be running the IT Infrastructure and Operations team which consists of about 10 people including a manager 

• The role reports to the VP of IT 

• User base is about 1100 with 130+ locations 

• The environment is mostly Microsoft stack - Windows on desktop and server, VMware, Azure, O365, Voip  

• Recently completed a Cyber assessment from BDO which showed a few medium risk items, but nothing 'major' 

• They will be looking at SIEM, NOC, some policy work, moving to Palo Altos, etc 

• IT budget is around $4mil annually 

• Projects: 

• There is a large office move planned - about 150 users in 2023 to another building, Telus has a large involvement with that as well 

• Moving anything to cloud that can be 

• Currently RFP out to go to soft phones / UC which most likely be a MS Teams-based solution 

• Moving firewalls from Meraki to Palo Alto (again Telus is involved) 

• IT Service management review / ITSM / Asset Management 

• WIFI review at all locations (security/strength/etc.) 

• Printing services refresh - all contracts expired on large multi-functional copiers/printers/scanners 

• Other smaller projects like reviewing MDM, DR, Policies, etc 

• We are looking for someone who is very data-driven and makes decision based on data/analytics vs 'guessing' 

• This role is not expected to be hands-on, but more focused on team leadership, vendor management/selection, policy/procedure work, being a true partner to the business and keep pushing the IT infrastructure environment and teams forward 

About You 

• Progressive hands-on IT infrastructure positions 

• Experience as a Director in midsize IT Infrastructure environments 

• Strong IT Service Management understanding 

• Experience leading/building teams 7-15 people 

• Good communication skills and presentation skills - will be the face of IT operations 

Bonus Items: 

• Government/NPO experience is a plus 

• Experience with RFPs, fulfilling IT/compliance requirements of working with government, working through steering committees 

• Exposure to PIPEDA, HIPPA, etc. 

Salary Range 

$150,000/year
