They are looking for an Accounting Lead who will oversee and be responsible for all financial transactions, including the management, internal control, integrity of systems, and compliance with controls, policies, procedures, and directives

About the Opportunity

• Prepare financial statements including Monthly internal and audited Year-End external statements and notes for the Foundation and countries in which it operates
• Prepare Annual T3010 and Form 990 and supporting schedules
• Prepare Annual Financials for Tax Authority Filings in African Countries
• Oversee, coordinate, and prepare requirements for annual audits
• Oversee General Ledger Chart of Accounts and Structure
• Oversee Monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations & analysis
• Oversee Monthly Financial Statement Analysis
• Manage Month End & Year End Timelines
• Oversee Monthly Accruals and Prepayments
• Oversee Monthly Occupancy Costs, Capital Assets recording & amortization
• Oversee Monthly Bank & Investment account reconciliations
• Oversee General Ledger Coding corrections
• Oversee Accounts Receivable recording & collection
• Review & Post journal entries performed by all team members
• Oversee Annual Charity Property Tax Rebate application
• Oversee Annual Sub-lessee rental payments schedule
• Implement and operationalize Internal Controls processes and procedures
• Responsible for accounting and internal control policies and processes, including standard operating procedure manual updates and documentation
• Manage a team of direct reports by maintaining task lists for each direct report and ensuring cross-training and back-up for all critical tasks
• Liaise with stakeholders including external auditors, tax accountants and other independent valuators

About You

• CPA
• 7+ years of public accounting and/or industry experience in large and/or global multicurrency environment required
• 3+ years of experience as a people leader
• Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) statutory requirements for charity/Foundation organizations highly preferred
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations
