Our client is a leading company managing the largest transportation and logistics network in the world. They are currently looking for a Director of Finance to lead and manage the accounting and finance functions in Canada.

About the Opportunity

• Supervise Accounting Group
• General Ledger Monthly/Annual Account Closing/Reconciliations
• General Ledger Tax and Audit Support 
• Responsible for maintaining a strong financial control structure 
• Lead Forecasting & Budgeting Process in Canada (liaison with corporate FP&A team) 
• Provide monthly financial reporting and variance analysis to Finance Leadership and Canada Operations Leadership
• Cash Management 
• Meet or Exceed Transplace and Customer Targeted Financial Objectives 
• Team Leader for the Accounting Department including all aspects for AR and AP
• Report financial results to executive management on a monthly and ad hoc basis 
• Manage daily bank reconciliations and cash flow • Prepare and/or review reconciliations on balance sheet and income statement accounts 
• Review and evaluate balance sheet and income statement accounts and work with General Ledger Team for any changes needed in the general ledger by posting the necessary entries
• Analyze results by reviewing current month and YTD results to prior period, prior year and budget; provide explanations as needed
• Search for new and improved ways of conducting financial processes, maintain up-to-date policies and procedures and remain current on accounting pronouncements
• Core team member involved in the upcoming transition of the legacy operational and financial system
• Prepare government monthly tax filings, corporate taxes, GST/HST, and ensure paid in compliance with Revenue Canada Rules
• Build budgets and forecasts for Canadian operations by working with Canadian Operations Leadership Team 
• Work closely with operational teams to identify and implement efficiencies or process improvements • Assist with the financial considerations of onboarding all new clients
• Prepare audit work papers and interact with audit teams to communicate/explain processes, transactions, balances and results
• Prepare tax work papers and interact with outsourced tax department to communicate/explain processes, transactions, balances and results 
• Research and complete special projects as requested
• Support Netherlands Site Controller with all financial aspects of the European business

About You

• CPA Designation
• Leadership experience in positions such as Controller, Director of Finance, or VP 
• Experience managing a team in previous roles 
• US GAAP experience 
• 10+ years of total experience

Salary Range

$150,000 - $170,000/year
