About the Opportunity
- Managing day-to-day accounting, monthly management reporting and analysis as well as line-item budgeting and forecasting for the business
- Providing a range of financial services including maintenance of the general ledgers, tax and regulatory compliance, credit, cash management and treasury functions, foreign exchange, accounts payable, capital, and fixed asset
- Ensures compliance with all provincial, state, federal, and other applicable taxes for Canada and the US. This also includes dealing with transfer pricing
- Manages the preparation of monthly and quarterly bank reporting including loan covenant calculations and certificates
- Develops and provides appropriate key business performance indicators that are meaningful and understandable for all levels
- Directly supervises three employees in the Finance Department
- Builds a motivated Finance team capable of providing excellent, value-added services. Coaches, mentors, and develops staff
- Demonstrates integrity and ethical leadership
- Monitors cash flows and provides forecasts and recommendations to management
- Participates in the Annual Budgeting and Forecasting Process, including capital and operational budgets. Provides strategic input to the business plan
- With the CFO, coordinates and manages the annual audit process including coordinating with the external auditors, planning, timing, and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Plans and manages semi-annual inventory counts
- Utilizing the IT systems to enhance reporting and analysis regarding the profitability and growth of the organization as well as mitigating risk
- Participate with system upgrades analysis, implementation, testing, and documentation
- Participates in the development of and ensures compliance with corporate policies
- Ensuring the finance and accounting function has a customer service orientation, including efficient and effective processes and practices
- Assists other departments with accounting related issues or queries
- Continually identifies and implements best practices ensuring an efficient, cost effective Accounting and Finance team with a focus on quality and client service
- Assists with special projects and other tasks assigned by the CFO
- Monitoring industry and regulatory trends and takes necessary actions to protect the interests of the company
About You
- A minimum of five years' progressive financial experience, at least two years of which are in a supervisory or management capacity
- Technically strong in accounting principles, practices, and procedures (knowledge of IFRS/ASPE, consolidations and costing an asset); knowledgeable and innovative in identifying opportunities for business improvements
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and business planning
- Proven ability to develop and implement changes improving effectiveness of accounting practices and processes
- Has managed the treasury function, including regulatory remittance (example HST remittances, duty draw backs), cash management and bank reporting
- Good knowledge of computer systems applications and ERP systems. Advanced Excel is mandatory knowledge and experience with databases would be desired
Salary
$95,000/year
