Our client is a commercial insurance provider. They are looking for a Assistant Manager Taxation who will be responsible for tax filings, compliance and control processes, audits, as well as research and analysis.

About the Opportunity
- Preparation of Federal and provincial filings including income tax returns for assigned legal entities
- Responsible for managing premium/fire tax reporting function including ensuring compliance with tax legislation and research of tax issues and changes.
- Preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation and note disclosure in financial statements for assigned entities
- Assist sales tax manager with retail sales tax and SAM filings
- Liaison with internal and external auditors, including tax authorities with respect to various tax issues, audits, assessments, and inquiries and make recommendations
- Administration of all aspects of the tax functions including proper documentation of work
- Ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income and premium/fire taxes.
- Ensure operational efficiency of the Tax Reporting Dept. is maintained at a high level in accordance with approved policy and procedures
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches in order to improve work processes; and keep abreast of industry taxation developments and changes.
About You
- CPA
- 5-7 years progressive experience in insurance taxation
- Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft applications, especially in Excel (incl. pivot tables), PowerPoint and Word
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Canadian Tax Return software such as Tax prep
Salary Range
$90,000 - $100,000/year
