About the Opportunity

• Responsible for coaching, managing and providing guidance and motivation to members of the General Ledger Team as assigned.   

• Responsible for all aspects of team management including talent and performance management, training, onboarding, and identification of gaps in resources and skillsets with input from Controller/VP Finance 

• Improve and enhance methods, operating or administrative procedures, to increase productivity and controls. 

• Establish month end closing procedures with an objective of continuous improvement to ensure a timely, accurate and balanced month end close process. 

• Coordinate close activities with various companies and business units supported by the team  

• Work closely with the business, including the stores, to resolve issues in their respective P&L or cost centre(s) 

• Oversee month-end closing activities, including review and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations. Review journals, analyses and accounts and determine necessary adjustments.  

• Keep Controller/VP Finance apprised of unexpected or uncontrollable circumstances that may impact reporting timelines 

• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages as required.  Reporting packages may include commentary and analysis from other team members or areas. Reporting packages include but are not limited to Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Expense Reporting, Gross Margin Reports and various other management reports. 

• Liaise with internal and external auditors including various provincial and federal tax authorities. Deal with customers and vendors regarding outstanding issues as required. 

• Evaluate, recommend and implement processes to enhance internal controls with a risk and controls mindset. 

• Communicate any control deficiencies and exceptions to Controller/VP Finance as required. 

• Partner with various individuals within finance and the business to improve controls and efficiency. 

• Represent the department on cross functional projects, including cross border and SBU, providing functional expertise and recommendations. 

About You

• University degree  

• Professional CPA accounting designation 

• Minimum of 6+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience  

• Strong Accounting background 

Salary Range

$110,000 - $120,000/year
