Our client is a leading provider of independent investment research in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. They offer an extensive line of products and services for individual investors, financial advisors, asset managers, retirement plan providers and sponsors, and institutional investors in the debt and private capital markets. They are looking to hire an Accounting Manager, who will be responsible for overseeing all functions and deliverables associated with the Financial Close and Expense process, assist with month-end close process, process improvements and team management.

About the Opportunity

• Leads the monthly accounting close process and overall management of Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Fixed Assets, including recording company transactions, classifications, and reconciliation of account balances in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policy, while maintaining a strong control environment for SOX compliance
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
• Collaborate with the Finance Shared Services team for various transaction processing support
• Approval of certain payments within banking portals
• Continuously evaluate workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient operations and opportunities for process improvement while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Proposes recommendations for changes and improvements to accounting policies/procedures
• Drives and partners with cross-functional teams and Internal Audit to develop and implement approved changes
• Provides developmental feedback and growth opportunities to staff members; delegates tasks and ensures sufficient cross-training of key responsibilities to strengthen the knowledge of the team and provide uninterrupted service to all critical stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide all requested information to facilitate audit completion
• Support Financial Planning & Analysis team to ensure complete and accurate expense forecasts
• Responsible for the preparation (sometimes through collaboration with external consultants) and review of the annual statutory financial statements for each legal entity (as applicable)
• Collaborate with external tax advisors to provide all requested information to facilitate the preparation and timely filing of corporate tax returns

About You

• Degree in Accounting and a minimum of six to eight years of relevant experience and/or public accounting required. Prior manager experience required
• Ability to adjust to a fast-paced environment and effectively manage numerous tasks concurrently with varying deadlines
• Ability to communicate clearly, work in a team-environment, and assume additional responsibilities over time
• Demonstrated understanding of application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) control requirements
• Proven ability to build high performing teams and foster relationships with team members, business leaders, and shared services
• Forward thinking attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
• Working knowledge of general ledger financial feeder systems with a proficiency of utilizing reporting tools to compile, analyze, and interpret data. Knowledge of Oracle accounting software is a plus
• Proficiency in MS Suite products – advanced Excel knowledge required
• A CPA or equivalent accounting certification required

Salary Range

$90,000-100,000/year
