Accounting and Payroll Specialist

About the Opportunity

The primary responsibilities will include payroll processing and benefits administration as well as A/P, A/R and general accounting. This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Administration. Once training is complete, a hybrid work environment (office/remote) is available, dependent on business requirements

  • Payroll: prepare payroll documentation, data entry into Ceridian, respond to staff inquiries, maintenance of personnel records
  • Benefits: enroll new employees, liaise with benefits provider, assist with staff inquiries
  • Accounts Payable: review/process invoices, prepare cheques
  • Accounts Receivable: prepare monthly/quarterly invoices, monitor payments
  • Accounting: bank/account reconciliations, prepare/book journal entries, revenue accounting, assist with financial reporting, assist with year-end audit preparation
  • General: onboarding of new employees, maintenance of physician attendance records, assist with billing when required, assist with planning of social events
  • Work in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act requirements
  • Other tasks as required

About You

  • Must have knowledge of accounting principles
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks required exposure to AbelMed a bonus
  • Tech-savvy, with MS Office and Outlook experience
  • Healthcare exposure and prior payroll experience is preferred
  • Self-directed multi-tasker; able to manage own workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written and customer service orientation
  • Effective and demonstrated team skills
