About the Opportunity
Finance oversees the accounting, tax, financial plans and policies of the organization, establishes and maintains fiscal controls, prepares and interprets financial reports, oversees financial systems and safeguards the organization's assets
Accounting establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls, completes technical research, safeguards the organization's assets and ensures accuracy of accounting and financial records in accordance with accounting standards
- Month-end close entries including accruals
- Oversight of company lease payments and related journal entries
- Liaise with and review transactions and reports prepared by third party service provider Genpact
- Month end analysis of inbound/outbout freight and cost variances
- Assist in the analyzing of the monthly internal financial reporting packages and explaining variances
- Prepare, review and reconcile a number of balance sheet accounts, identifying risk and potential write-offs or release to the P&L
- Oversight of supplier rebates prepared by third party service provider [Genpact] to ensure timely submission, issue resolutions and escalation to appropriate parties as needed
- Daily Treasury functions including setting up wires, cash reporting and forecasting
- Sales compensation calculation on quarterly basis
- Support the annual budget and forecasting process in the stated areas of responsibility
- Backup for Tax Consultant in matters related to commodity & realty taxes, insurance and statistics Canada filings
- Problem solving and issue escalation as needed
- Proactive thinking of business requirements and providing suggestions
- Responsible for system maintenance activities related to accounting – accounts set up, year-end closing budget upload
- Assist in special projects including ERP implementation
- All other duties as required
About You
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- CPA (CA. CGA, CMA) designation or close to completion with at least 3 to 5 years in Accounting, preferred
- Knowledge of JD Edwards and SAP is an asset
- Strong accounting, analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to clearly identify issues and bring them to a resolution
- Self-starter with a process improvement mindset in the work performed
- Experience in Medical Segment, distribution organization and/or large multinational organization is an asset
- Expert Excel skills with ability to work through significant volumes of data
- Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to partner successfully with third party organizations, finance and other departments
- Driven, customer-focused and result-oriented individual
Salary
$65,000 - $75,000/year
